Ive been training a little more lately but unfortunately have been neglecting www.chewjitsu.com, so I figured I would post this morning. I had a good rolling session last night at the gym.
We had learned a new choke that Rob Kahn made up. When I was learning it and drilling it, I have to admit, I had some doubts about it’s usability during a roll.
Last night however, I found myself taking side control, applying some “what time is it” pressure and setting up an armbar. The armbar didn’t pan out so I went back to the head pressure.
Regaining the “what time is it” pressure, I remembered the choke and set it up. I modified it only slightly to make sure I could keep control and there was no way to hip out of it. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly. Not only did it work really well but it is something that I will actually look forĀ anytime I get side control. So thanks are due to Rob. This one is awesome.
On a side note, I have been trying to get my weight down to 155. About a month and a half ago, I was at 187. Im now about 162 depending on how strict I am with myself on the weekends. Its hard sometimes but Im doing better.
I plan on posting my progress and my daily routine to keep myself in check and possibly help somebody else who may be trying to get their weight down. Right now I am doing an anti-inflammatory diet to help with my asthma and a nice side effect is weight loss. Ive dropped about 4% body fat in a month and a half, so Im happy so far.

Nice work on the weight loss! That is amazing!
Thanks Caleb,
I skipped training tonight because I have a ton of work to get done. I’m going back tomorrow night and I will keep posting my progress.
Keep up the good work on thefightworkspodcast.com
